FutureFoodS will launch six external calls and various in-kind activities over ten years. These calls will encourage participation from diverse sectors by requiring projects to cover at all three dimensions of sustainability and adopt inter- and transdisciplinary and trans-sectoral approaches
Second Joint Transnational Co-Funded Call of the FutureFoodS Partnership
FutureFoodS pre-announces the 2nd co-funded call for transnational research projects. The opening and launch of the call is expected in the second half of November 2025.
High-level topics:
• Topic 1: Domestic food practices enhancing sustainable and healthy diets
• Topic2: Towards diverse, sustainable and circular food processing systems
• Topic 3: Trust and transparency in sustainable food systems
Two-stage application: pre-proposal, then full proposal by invitation.
First Joint Transnational Co-Funded Call of the FutureFoodS Partnership
We are proud to announce that the results of its First Transnational Co-Funded Call – "Transforming Food Systems: Reshaping Food System Interactions, Fostering Food Innovations, and Empowering Sustainable Food Choices".
After receiving 275 pre-proposals from nearly 1,700 researchers across Europe, the final selection took place in mid-October. Together with the European Commission, 36 funding organizations from 19 countries will invest over €32 million in pioneering research to drive the transition towards sustainable food systems.
In total, 23 projects have been selected to start national or regional contract negotiations, contributing to one of the following key topics:
Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems – 7 projects
Topic 2: New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand and supply reorientation – 9 projects
Topic 3: Empowering sustainable food choices – Enabling food environments and dietary shifts – 7 projects

The FutureFoodS partnership has inviting qualified experts to join its International Expert Panel (IEP) to support the evaluation of proposals for upcoming funding calls. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to advancing research and innovation for a sustainable food future. This call is now closed.
